The aim of this module is to build on Beginning Midwifery Knowledge and explore the knowledge, skills and behaviours that underpin universal and additional care to mothers and new-borns during the antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum period. The module will support your exploration of the wider context of maternal and neonatal health from a multi-disciplinary perspective. You will investigate the political, ethical, social and cultural context of maternity care and the role of the midwife in providing a safe and positive experience of pregnancy, birth and the transition to parenthood.
