The aim of this module is to build on Beginning Midwifery Knowledge 3 and critically analyse the position of women, motherhood and midwives in society recognising organisational, national, and global agendas. Ethical perspectives will be challenged in the context of dilemmas faced by mothers and midwives. There will be a focus on research methodology and tools for critical appraisal developing the understanding and skills required of the midwife as scholar. Successfully completing this module helps demonstrate the NMC standards of proficiency (2019): Domain 1.3, 1.4, 1.5, 1.9,1.10, Domain 2: 2.7 Domain 3:3.25. Domain 4: 4.10.
