Five Years of Social Justice: A Celebration with Elaine James MBE

About
You’re invited to a special celebration at the University of Bradford as we mark five years of the Social Justice Society.
Join us for Five Years of Social Justice: A Celebration with Elaine James MBE on Thursday, 24 April, from 13:00 to 15:30 in the JSB Lecture Theatre, University of Bradford Campus.
This milestone event will bring together University of Bradford students, staff, alumni, and local social workers for an afternoon of inspiration and reflection.
We are honoured to welcome alumna and social work trailblazer Elaine James, recently awarded an MBE in the King’s New Year Honours List and winner of the Social Justice Advocate Award at the 2023 Social Worker of the Year Awards. Elaine will deliver an inspiring keynote, reflecting on her journey, the impact of her work, and the lessons she has learned, both professionally and personally.
Her talk will be followed by an interactive Q&A session.
In the second half of the afternoon, we’ll take a look back at the Social Justice Society’s remarkable journey over the past five years. Our speakers will share what social justice means to them and how the Society has shaped their perspectives and practice as social workers, both now and in the future.
Together, we’ll explore how to expand our impact, championing social justice both on campus and in our professional lives.
