A levels

BCC to include Maths or a Science subject.

Please note that where a science A level is taken, the University will require applicants to pass the practical element (for A levels awarded from August 2017 onwards).

T levels

Merit or higher in the following subjects:

  • Science
  • Maintenance, Installation and Repair for Engineering and Manufacturing
  • Design and Development for Engineering and Manufacturing
  • Engineering, Manufacturing, Processing and Control

BTEC Extended Diploma

DMM. Science or Health subject required.

Applicants on Access Programmes

104 UCAS tariff points from an Access to Higher Education Diploma. Science subject required.

International Baccalaureate Requirements

104 UCAS tariff points to include Higher Level grade 3 or Standard Level grade 4 in Maths and English.

Plus minimum of

GCSE English and Mathematics at grade C or 4 (equivalents accepted).

English language requirements

Minimum IELTS at 6.0 or the equivalent.

Foundation Year entry

If you are a UK student and do not meet the entry requirements for this course, our Foundation Year has a route to Clinical Technology BSc (Hons).

Foundation Year entry requirements

72 UCAS points or equivalent plus an English Language and a Maths qualification equivalent to GCSE Grade 4.

Study and progression requirements

Pass each module and achieve a programme average of at least 40%.

In addition to the relevant core modules, you will study at least one of the following: Foundation in Human Biology, Foundation in Chemistry.

If you do not have the required Maths entry qualification, you must also study Maths and Stats for Higher Education.

Transferring from another university

If you are currently studying at another university and would like to transfer to the University of Bradford, this course accepts students into the second or third year. This is called advanced entry.

Applications for advanced entry will be considered on a case-by-case basis and must include an official transcript (not a screenshot of a portal), all module descriptors, and relevant qualifications. Module descriptors must include learning outcomes.

Applications must be submitted through UCAS and the required documents emailed along with your UCAS Personal ID no later than 31 August prior to the course starting in September. Relevant documents should be emailed to [email protected]

Placement Year

This 4-year BSc (Hons) Clinical Technology programme offers you the opportunity to take up a placement year working in industry in your third year.

The placement year is an excellent way to develop your professional experience, build industry contacts, and gain insight into the day-to-day work of a professional clinical technologist. Placements are predominantly salaried positions and may lead to offers of employment upon graduation if you excel during your placement.

Support for placement applications is plentiful, with a dedicated Faculty Career Development Advisor and academic staff members overseeing placement students. All students on placement are assigned an academic supervisor who will visit them during their placement year and can provide advice and guidance.

Our facilities

Our biomedical engineering facilities include a bioaerosol test facility for performing microbiological experiments, and a cell/tissue engineering lab for in-vitro culturing of tissues and wound repair.

Study abroad

All of our programmes offer the opportunity to study abroad with two semesters at an international partner institution.

Study support

We have a commitment to strong pastoral care for all of our students, which includes a Personal Tutor for all students, regular contact hours for tutor groups and our supportive student service teams who are always ready to help with any questions and provide the advice that you need.

In addition to standard study support through taught sessions, our Virtual Learning Environment allows students to access resources, participate in group work and submit work from anywhere in the world 24/7.

University central services are rich with support teams to assist students with every aspect of their journey through our degree programmes. From our Career and Employability Service, through our strong Students' Union, to our professional and efficient Student Finance team, there are always friendly faces ready to support you and provide you with the answers that you need.

We have well-stocked libraries and excellent IT facilities across campus. These facilities are open 24 hours a day during term time, meaning you’ll always find a place to get things done on campus. 

Our Academic Skills Advice Service will work with you to develop your academic, interpersonal and transferable skills.
