Support your young person as they explore their options
Results Day and Clearing can be some of the most exciting and challenging aspects of the university journey for both you and the young person in your care.

What is Clearing?
Clearing allows unplaced students, or those who have not yet applied, to find a place at university.
It offers prospective students the chance to think about their options, change their minds or have a fresh start.
Helping your young person
We can help you and your young person work together to gather resources and create a plan.
Your help and support as a parent or carer, whether they are beginning to choose courses and universities, or preparing for graduation, is a valuable way to encourage them.

Clearing key dates
Clearing takes place between 5 July and 20 October.
Results Day for the majority of qualifications (A level, T level and BTEC) takes place in mid-August. This is always the busiest day of Clearing, with large numbers of students searching for university places.
Helping you support your young person
Our timely resources will provide everything you'll need to support them before, during and after the Clearing process, as they:
- choose courses and universities
- research their financial options
- explore where to live
- prepare for Results Day and the Clearing process
Remember, it's ultimately their decision, but being their sounding board can help them gain confidence in their choices.
