Urfan Faqir

Business and Community Engagement Consultant

Urfan works across all faculties and departments, building and extending partnership working and specific projects to support the University's Business and Community Engagement, particularly with a focus on skills, student/graduate opportunities, including diversity, inclusion and widening participation. He was the project lead on the Graduate Workforce Bradford Project to improve outcome for ethnic minority graduates and previously lead on the summer experience programme.

Urfan manages the relationship between the university and organisations such as The LEAP and Bradford 2025. He is responsible for advertising and promoting opportunities relevant to students. He also manages research internships for the Brad-Attain programme for PHD and undergraduate students. He also sits on the Placement steering group, Business and Community Engagement steering group, Race Equality Action Group, Action and Participation group and is currently the Co-chair of the Race Equality Staff Forum.

Alex Holland

Employer & Placement Services Adviser

Alex works with the faculty of Engineering and Digital Technologies, guiding students throughout their industry placement.
He also helps run the Summer Experience internship programme, helping first and second-year students gain employment whilst working closely with local employers.

He offers 1:1 appointments to students through the CES and support the wider team with career led events such as career fairs, drop ins with a focus on providing graduates with guidance and advice in relation to their career’.

Anna Fisher

Employer & Placement Services Consultant (International)

Anna works across all faculties at the University to develop work-based learning opportunities for international students in particular, and helps students to access and understand the value of these. She actively engages and develops meaningful relationships with a wide range of employers to facilitate student opportunities both within and outside of the curriculum. These might include placements, internships, volunteering, guest lectures and graduate employment opportunities. 

Working alongside a Career Consultant (International) to plan and deliver a range of employability programmes and workshops, Anna also supports international students through individual appointments to discuss CVs and Cover Letters, job applications, placements, part-time work, sourcing opportunities and developing employability skills. Through her employer engagement activities she also aims to raise awareness of the practicalities of hiring international students and graduates, the options available and the potential benefits of doing so.

An Employment and Placement services Adviser; actively engaging and networking with employers across the region, to build connections and source relevant opportunities.

I am primarily based within the Faculty of Law, Management and Social Sciences, but available to all students to support with CV writing, interview preparation, finding work experience/internships and developing overall employability skills.

I also actively post on various platforms (particularly canvas) to keep students informed of all opportunities available, such as job vacancies, internships, webinar and anything else occurring on campus – so keep a look out!

Ian Hayslop

Ian is responsible primarily for employer engagement and careers-related student support for the MSc Applied Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics programme within the Faculty of Law, Management and Social Sciences.

He actively engages with a wide range of employers from the region and beyond to develop meaningful relationships and to source placement opportunities for students. He also supports students with CV writing, searching and applying for placements and developing their employability skills more generally.

With over 20 years of experience in the education sector, Ian is passionate about delivering the best outcomes for all stakeholders.

He works with Faculties, with individuals and groups of students to support them in identifying and optimising in-curricula, co-curricula and extra-curricula opportunities for work-based learning.

Nicola Crowther

Nicola is responsible for all of the operational aspects of the University Work Register and is the main contact for internal departments wishing to recruit student workers. She issues Casual Worker Agreements to students who work on campus and manages the monthly payroll for student staff.

Nicola is the main contact for employers wishing to promote their vacancies to our students and supports the administration of central Careers fairs held on campus. She is also part of the team providing one-to-one information and advice drop-in services to students and graduates.

Shereen serves as the Employer and Placement Advisor for the Faculty of Management, Law, and Social Sciences team. Coordinating both the Summer Experience Programme and Bradford Mentoring Programme, Shereen plays a pivotal role in facilitating valuable opportunities for students' professional growth.

Actively fostering relationships with employers, Shereen is dedicated to sourcing internships and placement opportunities that align with students' career goals. Notably, she is a proud graduate of the University of Bradford, further strengthening her commitment to supporting and guiding fellow students/ graduates on their career journeys.
