Women’s History Month
Women's History Month and International Women's Day are annual events in March which focus on the achievements of women across the world.
This year the Centre for Inclusion & Diversity (CfID), Gender Staff Forum, People, Culture and Wellbeing and the Union of Students have come together to organise an institution-wide programme. We celebrate women across the institution who have been inspired or are inspiring others.
What we will be doing in 2025
The theme for Women's History Month 2025 is 'Moving forward together! Women educating and inspiring generations'.
The theme for International Women's Day 2025 is 'Accelerate Action'.
This year we have a great line up of events for the month:
- Launch event with art work display and workshop
- Meno Chit-Chat - event on Menopause
- Thriving as a Mother at university - Podcast and informal meetup for Mothers either working or studying at the university
- Scholarship pathways for Women - Panel discussion
Women will inspire inclusion for all if they embrace equality, together speaking out to fill the silence created by oppression and fear.
Professor Shirley Congdon, Vice-Chancellor
During Women's History Month, we celebrate the incredible achievements of the women in history and within our own university community. With the theme 'Moving Forward Together,' let us recognise the power of women’s education in inspiring and empowering our students and staff to lead, break barriers, and shape a brighter future for all.
